Albert “Al” J. Curry, Sr., 90 of Springfield, passed away at 2:48 pm, Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital. He was born December 3, 1932 in Sangamon County, the son of Earl and Shirley (Crawford) Curry. He married Barbara Lowe on August 23, 1957 and she survives.

He is also survived by his two sons, Albert (Sandy) Curry, Jr. of Spaulding and Carl Curry of Springfield; one daughter, Cindy (Chris) Bequeath of Leroy; two grandchildren, Charles Curry and Melissa (AJ) DeVault; four great grandchildren, Charlee Grace, Dakota, Anny, Bentlee Sue, and one on the way; one sister, Frances Growth of Joliet; two brothers, Charles (Peggy) Curry of Pleasant Plains and Eugene Curry of Sherman and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceding him in death are his parents; daughter in law, Martha Curry; one sister Florence Yeadon and one brother Carl Curry.

Al is a United States Air Force veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Dickey-John as a tool and dye maker after 20 years of service.

He was a member of Riverton Christian Church and the Riverton Lavely Masonic Lodge #786. He enjoyed building radio-controlled airplanes and loved watching NASCAR.

Visitation: 9:30 am – 11:30 am, Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at Riverton Christian Church.

Funeral Service: 11:30 am, Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at Riverton Christian Church with Pastor Brian Atwell officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.

Memorial contributions may be made to any veteran’s organization of the donor’s choice.
