Alberta Mae Dumbris Grigsby, 100, of Springfield, IL passed away, surrounded by her family at 9:50 am, Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Centennial Pointe Senior Living. She was born December 3, 1925, in Springfield, to Willis R. and Ida Alberta (Cole) Davis. She married Charles Dumbris in 1946, and he preceded her in death on February 28, 1971. She married James R. Grigsby in 1984, and he preceded her in death on February 22, 2014.

 She is survived by her three sons, Charles (Rose) Dumbris of Springfield, IL, Alan (Linda) Dumbris of Berea, KY, and Don (Jennifer) Dumbris of Golconda, IL; one stepdaughter, Linda (Chris) Eversole of OK; one stepson, James (Alicia) Grigsby of Springfield, IL; one brother, Jerry Creighton of Rochester, IL and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; one brother, Dale Creighton; one sister, Norma Jean Leslie and one stepdaughter, Donna Hilliard.

 Alberta was a member of First Christian Church. She retired from Ameren where she worked for many years with CIPS (Central Illinois Public Service) as an Accounting Clerk.

 She loved gardening and was an avid reader. She enjoyed sewing her own clothes and always made sure her visiting finches had plenty of water.

 Graveside Service: 1:00 pm, Friday, April 17, 2026, at Camp Butler National Cemetery.

 Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League.
