Anton “Tony” Moore Telford, 99, of Springfield, IL, passed away at Evertrue Concordia Village on September 16, 2025. He was a resident of Evertrue Concordia Village for 10 years. Tony was born on August 27, 1926, in Chicago, IL, to Roswell A. and Dorothy Evelyn (Moore) Telford and they preceded him in death.

 Tony married Margaret Zipfel on November 11, 1951, and she preceded him in death on March 16, 1992. He then married Charlotte Kavanaugh on July 31, 1993, and she preceded him in death on October 11, 2014.

 Tony is survived by his five children, Jacquelyn (Arnold) Prigge of Red Bud, IL, Susan (Clayton) Prigge of Rochester, IL, Richard (June Andree) Telford of Chatham, IL, Mary Ann (David) Favero of Springfield, IL, and Jean (Kevin) Williams of Divernon, IL; thirteen grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

 Tony graduated from high school and proceeded to serve our country in the Air Force during World War II. Upon his service, he received his degree in chemical engineering at the Iowa State University in 1949.

 Tony was a chemical engineer for the State of Illinois with the Environmental Protective Agency. He furthered his education and received his master’s degree in 1982. Tony dedicated 42 years as an engineer from 1949 – 1991 before retiring.

 All of his life, he enjoyed his favorite hobby which was building balsa airplanes and was a member of the Bong Eagles Free Flight Club. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears. Tony was a dedicated and faithful member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ.

 Tony was a proud veteran of World War II and was honored at a Land of Lincoln Honor Flight Ceremony at Evertrue Concordia Village.

 Memorial Gathering: 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm, Monday, October 6, 2025, at Concordia Tree of Life Chapel at Evertrue Concordia Village.

 Memorial Service: 2:00 pm, Monday, October 6, 2025, at Concordia Tree of Life Chapel at Evertrue Concordia Village with Pastor Jeff Harter officiating.

 Memorial contributions may be made to the Christ Care Fund at Evertrue Concordia Village.
