Barbara Jo Ferguson, nee Hays, 77, of Hollister, MO, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Point Lookout Nursing Home. She was born December 12, 1946, in Peoria, IL, the daughter of Joseph and Gertrude (Wageman) Hays. She married David J. Ferguson on April 14, 1992.

Survivors include her husband; daughters, Joanna (Matthew Gairani) Thompson of Springfield and Kirstin (Matthew) Giacometti of Chatham; son, Joshua (Sarah) Thompson of Mt. Pulaski; stepdaughter, Andrea (Allen) Woolard of Auburn; stepson, Jacob Ferguson of Auburn, IL; eleven grandchildren: Taylor (Cody) Waldon, Tylor (Kylie) Thompson, Grace, Emma, and Samuel Giacometti, Haley (Dylan) Stewart, Kaytlynd, Evie, Elliott, Lorena and Joshlynn Thompson; and six step-grandchildren: Tyler, Braydon, Hanna, Olivia, Jed, and Kylee; four great-grandchildren, Rhett, Ryder Thompson, Violet and Blair Stewart.

Preceding her in death are her parents; son, Brent Thompson; and son-in-law, Coleman Hession.

Barbara grew up on the family farm in Deer Creek, IL. She was a devoted individual who was a longtime member of A Table of Life Ministries and Calvary Church until they moved to Hollister, MO, where she became an active member of Glory Barn. She was known to many to be a very talented seamstress, and made many of her children’s clothing through the years. Barbara dedicated her career to Springfield Public Schools working primarily with early education before retiring.

A stalwart and faithful soldier in God’s army, Barbara’s faith and belief in our Creator the Lord God never wavered, not once. She put her faith before everyone and before all things. She was and is deeply loved and she is greatly missed.

Well done good and faithful servant. May you be welcomed to the wedding feast of the Lamb. May the halls of heaven be open to you.

Visitation: 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Friday, November 8, 2024, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield. A second visitation will be held from 10:00 am – 11:00 am, Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service: 11:00 am, Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield. Burial will follow service at Old Salem Cemetery.
