Barbara Louise Bacon, aged 87, of Springfield, IL, passed away on January 24, 2026, in the same city where she was born on October 27, 1938.

Barbara cherished her roots and extended them through her family, including her beloved children, William R. Bacon, Jr. of Springfield and Cheyenne (Carl) Bailey of Lincoln; her sister, Carlene Edmonston; and her niece, Debbie Rogers-Skaggs. A special mention must be made for Twirpie, the family cat, who brought her much joy and companionship over the years.

A graduate of Feitshans High School, Barbara immediately demonstrated her nurturing spirit by caring for others as a Certified Nursing Assistant at St. John's Hospital. Later, with the same care and dedication, she contributed to a book binding company before embracing the full-time role of homemaker following the birth of her children.

Barbara was predeceased by her beloved husband of 46 years, William R. "Billy" Bacon, who she married on New Year's Eve in 1961 and who passed away on July 14, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her son, William Lee Bacon, and her parents, Alvin Adams and Ellen G. Locatta Adams. Her journey through life's joys and sorrows with grace and resilience left an enduring legacy of love.

A quintessential homebody, Barbara relished the simple pleasures life had to offer. Many an afternoon would find her immersed in the adventures and dramas of old western movies, a genre she adored; and also in her yard tending to her beautiful flowers. In her quiet moments, Barbara's reflective and loving nature was evident, leaving those around her feeling seen, heard, and valued.

Private burial took place at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
