Benjamin “Ben” Mullett 49, of Springfield, died on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at his home. He was born April 2, 1977, in Springfield, to George and Cheryl Darling Mullett.

Survivors include his mother, Cheryl Sumpter of Springfield; step-mother, Lori Payne-Mullett; one sister Shannon Sumpter of Riverton; three brothers, Graham (Julie) Mullett of Mackinaw, IL, Chris Mullett of Kyle, TX, and Nick Mullett of Springfield; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father and maternal and paternal grandparents.

Ben was a graduate of Southeast High School. He worked as a Chef at Illini Country Club.

He enjoyed watching sports, especially Michigan College Sports and St. Louis Cardinals.

Visitation: 4-7 pm, Monday, June 1, 2026, at Staab Funeral Home - Springfield.

Funeral Service: 11 am, Tuesday, June 1, 2026, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield. Burial will follow at Mechanicsburg Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois.
