Betty J. Creasey, 98, of Chatham, departed this life for her heavenly home on Friday, June 12, 2026. She was born on April 27, 1928, in Chatham, the daughter of Harry “Ted” and Rena (Goddard) McGuire. She married Vernon L. Creasey on May 16, 1948, and he preceded her in death on May 20, 1975.

 She is also preceded in death by her parents and sister, Eileen Gleason.

 Betty is survived by her two children, Connie (Jeff) Jackson of Chatham and Rick (Penny) Creasey of Avon Park, FL; three grandchildren, Richard and Chardè Creasey and Lacey (Eric Smith) Yazell; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

 A lifelong Chatham resident, Betty was a devoted member and elder at Chatham Presbyterian Church. She dedicated her career to the University of Illinois Division of Specialized Care for Children before retiring. Her spirit of service shone through her volunteer work, particularly with the Girl Scouts of America. She found her greatest joy in her flower gardens, in exploring new places through travel, and in moments spent with her beloved family and friends.

 Visitation: 12:00 – 2:00 pm, Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

 Funeral Service: 2:00 pm, Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield. A burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Cemetery.

 Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
