Brenda K. Dalby, 74, of Springfield, IL, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025. Brenda was born October 23, 1950, in Mt. Vernon, IL, daughter of Charles Everett Dalby and Martha (Bishop) Lawson.
Brenda is survived by her sister, Karen Gontarek of Springfield; half-brother, Paul (Angie) Kirk of Mt. Vernon; nieces, Mandi (Brian) Praed, Keri (Jason) Vincent, Kristen (Jeff) Usakowski, and Kayleigh Kirk; nephews, Ryan (Heather) Bietsch and Kevin (Laurel) Bietsch; great-nieces, Isabella Usakowski and Taylor Bietsch; great-nephews, Caiden Bietsch, Ethan Bietsch, Andrew Austin, Jackson Vincent, and Eli Austin; and several cousins.
Brenda is preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; two brothers-in-law, Val Gontarek and Eddie Bietsch; stepfather, Sherman Lawson; and sister, Diane Bietsch.
Brenda graduated from Lanphier High school in 1968 and began working at Illinois Bell Telephone Company in 1968. She retired after 30 years of working in management at the same company.
She enjoyed many different hobbies, including sewing, making quilts, coloring pictures with her niece, Taylor, planting and caring for her outdoor flowers, fishing and spending time with her family and friends. Brenda was one that loved serving and helping people and animals.
Brenda will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation: Sunday, 10 am – 1 pm, February 23, 2025, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Funeral: Sunday, 1 pm, February 23, 2025, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Pastor Louise Fane officiating. Cremation will be arranged by Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League or a charity of the donor’s choice.
