Catherine “Kay” Carol King, 83, formerly of Springfield, IL, died on May 5, 2026. She passed away after an extended illness surrounded by her family in Tucson, AZ.

 She was preceded in death by her father, Houck Ernst Bolton, M.D. and her mother, Katherine Kuicks Bolton; her brother, Houck Ernst “Buzzy” Bolton Jr.; and her daughter, Karolyn King.

 She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Richard L. King and their daughters: Kathleen (and Jeffrey) Porter of Tucson, AZ; Kristin King of Decatur, IL; and Karen Howard of Tucson, AZ; and their grandchildren: Richard Brennan King of St. George, UT; Justin Howard of Atlanta, GA; Alexis Jackson, Kayla Jackson, Kylee Jackson, Casey Jackson, and Lacey Jackson, all of Decatur, IL; and great-grandchildren: Kyle King and Rheadyn King, both of St. George, UT; and Emelia Irwin of Albuquerque, NM.

 Kay’s life focus was her love of God, her family, and her friends. She loved dogs, gardening, playing games with her daughters, painting with watercolors, and sharing her Catholic faith with others.

 Kay will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew her.

 Memorial Gathering: 10:00 – 11:00 am, Monday, June 8, 2026, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

 Memorial Mass: 11:00 am, Monday, June 8, 2026 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with Very Rev. Brian C. Alford officiating. A burial will take place at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, IL.
