Charles Elvie Scott, Sr., 83, of Boulder Hill, Illinois formerly of Springfield, IL, passed away on August 2, 2026, at his home. He was born on August 31, 1942, the son of George Lloyd and Ann (Kamnick) Scott. He married Caroline Jane Buckler, and she survives.

Also surviving are five children, Susan Scott, Ruth (Brian) Golden, Laura Scott, Charles Scott, Jr., and Julie (Oscar) Herrera; grandchildren, Sensei Larsen-Scott (Avi Mayerhoff), Una Scott, Edmund Makowski-Scott, Mahealani Golden, Jevon Golden, Austin (Amanda) Golden, Yelena (Joeseph) Suponya, Jesse Cuaresma, Alexandria (Aidan) Wright, Mason Scott, Oscar Herrera Jr. He has numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. His surviving siblings are Robert Scott, Judith Lowery, and Marilyn Thompson.

As a youth, Charles served as an acolyte at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul. He was a United States Army veteran. He worked at AT&T Bell Labs in Naperville IL as a graphic artist until retiring. He traveled to every state except Alaska.

Visitation will be held at Cathedral Church of St. Paul on August 6, 2026, from 11:30 am  to 12:30pm.

Funeral Service will be held at 12:30 pm at the Cathedral of Saint Paul on August 6, 2026, with the Reverend Andy Hook officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
