Clara Lorene Gorbett, 83, of Springfield, IL, passed away on November 9, 2025. Clara was born on September 24, 1942, to Donald Diefenback and Irene King.

 Clara is survived by her children, Todd (JoAnn) Lawson of Loami, IL, Jeff Lawson of Springfield, IL, Sam (Tammy) Lawson of Athens, IL, Christena (Daren) Bailey of Springfield, IL, and Prima (Julius) Moss of Pocahontas, IL; ten grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; uncle, Dennis (Peggy) King of Springfield, IL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 She is preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Joseph Morgan; and sister, Rutha Mulligan.

 Clara graduated from Springfield High School. She was a bus driver for the Springfield Mass Transit District and the Springfield District 186 school busing. She also worked at the American Red Cross, Jewel Osco, and was a janitor at the Prairie Capital Convention Center.

 Clara was affectionately called the “cranky lady” by her neighbors. In her free time, she enjoyed watching the movie Overboard, drinking coffee and Hallmark movies.

 A Celebration of Clara’s Life will be held at 1 pm, Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Dance Creations Dance Studio, 1401 E. Cottonwood St., Springfield, IL 62703.
