Crystal E. Sexton, 100, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Springfield Suites. She was born February 22, 1926, in Effingham County, to Frank and Gladys Mattix Burton. She married Alonzo L. Sexton on June 26, 1948, and he preceded her in death on July 9, 2017.

 Also preceding her in death were her parents; three brothers, Victor (Geraldine) Burton; John Burton and infant, Harold Burton; and two infant children, David and Ruth Ann.

 She is survived by two daughters, Linda (Jeffrey, deceased) Benson of Rochester and Brenda (Mike, deceased) Semon of Springfield; one son, John Burton of Springfield; four grandchildren Jennifer (Matt) O’Brien of Rochester, Stacie (Ryan) Marcum of Cantrall, Kathy Semon of Springfield and Ryan Pike of Springfield; six great grandchildren, Eilish, Seamus, Andrew, Alex, Emily and Julian and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 Crystal was a graduate of Altamont High School and Memorial Medical Center School of Nursing. She worked as a Nurse for forty years at Memorial Medical Center. Before her nurses training, she did cadet training with the Army.

 She was of the Methodist faith and was former and longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church before they closed. She kept a meticulous garden and loved her daylilies. Her neighbors always enjoyed all of her hard work that she put into it.

 Visitation: 10:00 – 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

 Funeral Service: 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Rev. Donn Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

 Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League.
