Darl E. Young 67, of Springfield, IL, died at 9:30 am, Monday, June 2, 2025, at his home. He was born February 7, 1958, in Spring Valley, IL, to Darl A. and Helen Snyders Young. He married Victoria Bergschneider on November 25, 1992, and she preceded him in death on February 28, 2015.

Survivors include one son, Darl A. (Allison) Young II of Carbondale, IL; two grandchildren, Garrett Speith and Victoria Young; three sisters, Carole Ann Delmanowski of Kingsburg, CA, Nancy Klemm of St. Charles, MO and Susan (Richard) Deweese of Springfield, IL and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister, Mary Olmstead and brother, William Young.

Darl was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church. He retired from CWLP in 1994, where he worked in water Maintenance and after retiring, he worked for Siloam Springs State Park.

He was a member of Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War and enjoyed Civil War reenactments. He volunteered at Lincoln’s Tomb and the Old State Capital with the Civil War Reenactments.

Memorial Mass: 10 am, Thursday, July 31, 2025 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Murphysboro, IL with Reverend Joel Seipp officiating.

Graveside service: 10 am, Friday, August 1, 2025, at Calvary Cemetery, Springfield, IL.

Memorial contributions may be made to Blessed Sacrament Church.
