Donna L. Slavens, 96, of Sherman, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Springfield Memorial Hospital. She was born March 17, 1929, in Waverly, IL the daughter of Ernest “Bing” and Pauline (Rilling) Lomelino. She married Joseph Z. Slavens on July 17, 1948, and he preceded her in death on April 19, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her parents, special friend, William Bridges and a sister, Renee Lomelino.

 She is survived by three sons, Reginald (Dorise) Slavens and Jeffrey (Sue) Slavens, both of Colorado Springs, CO and Mark (Deana Poe) Slavens of Greenview; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 Donna was a member of Williamsville United Methodist Church. She received her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Millikin University, Master of Arts in Speech from Sangamon State University. She loved to dance and she loved the theater. She retired from Williamsville High School where she taught speech, English, history and formerly taught music at Riverton and Tri-City. After retirement she worked part time for Kitty Hawk Travel and volunteered at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum.

 Visitation: 10:00 – 11:30 am, Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Williamsville United Methodist Church.

 Funeral Service: 11:30 am, Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Williamsville United Methodist Church.

 A private burial will be held at Waverly East Cemetery at a different time.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Williamsville United Methodist Church.
