Eva May Fickas, 87, of Riverton, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Petersburg. She was born on March 3, 1939, in Springfield, the daughter of Phillip and Eva Stephens. She married Raymond Fickas on January 19, 1957, and he preceded her in death on July 3, 2019.

 She is also preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Sue Fickas; sister, Riva Reiner; and granddaughter, Jessica Howe.

 Survivors include her four daughters, Miranda Carlove of Springfield, Cathy Colonius of Springfield, Nancy (Kevin) Hawley of Riverton, and Tina (Steve) Gruendel of Springfield; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara (Pat) Croty of Phoenix, AZ and Lois (Wayne) Cox of Springfield; brother, Junior Stephens of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 Eva found joy in her garden, tending each flower and plant with patience and care. She loved cooking for the people she cherished, and family was her greatest gift. She absolutely adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always happiest when caring for them. After dedicating 40 years to her work on the assembly line at Hobbs, she retired with the same steadfast spirit she brought to everything she did.

 Visitation: 9:00 – 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Staab Funeral Home – Sherman.

 Funeral Service: 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Staab Funeral Home – Sherman, with Cindy Lash officiating. A burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

 Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
