Gary E. Bryan, Sr., 83 of Springfield, died at 5:52 pm, Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Springfield Memorial Medical Center. He was born February 1, 1943, in Hannibal, MO, to Bishop B. and Ocie O. (Swain) Bryan. He married Brenda Darland on December 27, 2005, and she survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Lori (Jim) Hoback of Forsyth, Lisa Bryan of Springfield and Rachel Smith of Statesboro, GA; one step-daughter, Michelle Walters of Springfield; one step-son, Todd Baldwin of Havana; fourteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; his twin brother, Larry Bryan of Indialantic, FL and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Gary E. Bryan, Jr. and Jonathan E. Bryan and one sister, Mary Francis Feezor.
Gary was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Decatur. Where he was pastor from 1969 – 1975. He was a preacher of the gospel, broadcasting it over the radio.
He was the owner/founder of Gary Bryan Kitchen & Bath. Gary was also a founder of Decatur Christian Schools and was currently the owner and operator of West Side Mini Storage and Bryan Properties.
He was an avid horse lover and enjoyed buying and showing them. He was a collector of antique cars and 50’s memorabilia.
Visitation: 9 am – 12 pm, Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Funeral Service: 12 pm, Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Staab Funeral Home - Springfield, with Brother Don Bassford officiating. Private family burial will take place at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Baptist Church in Decatur, IL.
