George D. Blaskie, 73, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2026, at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 16, 1953, in Springfield, the son of George E. and Vicki (Stankavich) Blaskie and they preceded him in death.

 He is survived by his sister, Tracie Blaskie of Springfield; several special cousins; and many dear friends, especially the Riveria Club gang.

 George was a proud graduate of Lanphier High School. He retired as a messenger for the State of Illinois after many years of service. After retirement, George filled his days tending to his beloved flower gardens and making sure the birds and squirrels in his backyard never went hungry. A true sports fan, he enjoyed hockey and football and never missed a chance to cheer on the Green Bay Packers. He also liked the thrill of a casino trip and spent time as a member of the Riveria Club.

 A celebration of George’s life will be held at a later date, and cremation rites have been arranged by Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

 Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
