Harvey Byron Lloyd, Jr.

Harvey Byron Lloyd, Jr., 95, of Springfield, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2026, at the Arc at Sangamon Valley. He was born on March 1, 1931, in Springfield, the son of Harvey and Catherine (O'Neil) Lloyd. He married Eleanor Ann Bradley on January 12, 1953, and she preceded him in death on May 19, 2017.

He is also preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Patrice "Patty" Perry; son, Byron Patrick Lloyd; four sisters, Barbara Fletcher, Patricia Albanese, Marilyn Anderson, and Shirley Watson; and granddaughter, Michelle Truesdale.

Survivors include his three daughters, Sharon Schmitt of Springfield, Bobbie (Cathy Huntoon) Barrett of Homer Glen, and Colleen (Stephan) Lauter of Gainesville, FL; three sons, Michael (Deanna "Dee") Lloyd of Indianapolis, IN, Byron "Pepper" (Deanna) Lloyd of Rochester, and Bradley (Jodi) Lloyd of Springfield; 13 grandchildren, Missi (Daron) Searcy, Tom Barrett, Megan (Erik Miller) Lloyd, Zach Lloyd, Justin (Jenna) Lloyd, Reagan (Zach) Worth, Rob (Jessica) Perry, Patrick Perry, Cassie Lloyd, Patti Lloyd, Stephan Lauter, Matt Lauter, and Chris Lauter; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mary (Duke) Francis of Springfield; brother, William Lloyd of Indianapolis, IN; and many nieces and nephews.

Byron proudly served his country in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant and becoming one of the first soldiers deployed during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Following his military service, he worked as a representative for the Illinois State Lottery. In his free time, Byron could often be found on the golf course or at the bowling alley, enjoying the friendly competition and fellowship of both sports. He was a devoted animal lover and cherished the companionship of his many dogs over the years and found great joy in taking them on long walks.

A private graveside service will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park, where military honors will be conducted.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League.
