James Ervin Davis, 77, of Springfield, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Arcadia Care on the Hill. He was born February 21, 1948, in Burlington, IA, the son of Samuel and Ruby Sue (Carter) Davis. He married Debra Johnson on August 8, 2015, and she survives.

 Also surviving are four daughters, Elizabeth Harvell, Rhonda Sue (Cleveland) Logan, Wanda Jean (Goldman) Johnson, and Katrice (Levar) Davis, all of Springfield; five sons, Charles Harvell and Larry Harvell, both of Springfield, Aaron Barrett of Alton, Gergory Treadwell of Portland, OR, and Jowan (Marilyn) Davis of Springfield; several grandchildren, great- grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sister, Melba Norman of Springfield; three brothers, Ronald Davis, James (Priscilla) Davis and Dwayne (Christine) Davis, Sr., all of Springfield; few aunts and uncles; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Gary Lee Davis and nephew, Dwayne S. Davis, Jr.

 James worked in appliances, doing service calls and maintenance for Frank Reynolds American Auction Appliance Center.

 He spent his free time cleaning and waxing cars. He was an avid collector of knives, hats and sunglasses and was a sports enthusiast. Most of all, he enjoyed attending his kids and grandkids sports activities.

 Private family services will be held.

 Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
