James Lee Rogers, 88, of Springfield, IL, passed away on July 31, 2025. He was born on October 8, 1936, in Berlin, IL, to James Edward and Mary Bernice (Davenport) Rogers.
He is survived by his children, Jay Lee (Karen) Rogers of Springfield, IL, Lisa Kay Burkart of Grayslake, IL, Larry G. Rogers of Evansville, IN, and Richard D. Rogers of Springfield, IL; grandchildren, Lindsay (Eli) Cook, Michael Rogers, Mitchell Burkart, Bennett Burkart, Tyler Burkart, Steven Rogers, and Seth Rogers; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
James is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lloyd D. Rogers.
James graduated from New Berlin High School and proceeded to serve our country in the United States Air Force. After his service, he helped build homes and churches, where he learned many craftmanship skills. He then became a truck driver and had a long career of 30+ years with Teamsters for various companies, most notably, Wonder Bread.
James raised his family in Petersburg, IL and one of his greatest joys was watching his children and grandchildren run in cross country meets in junior high and high school.
James also enjoyed listening to baseball games on the radio whenever there was a game on. His favorite pastime was spending time with his children and grandchildren, listening to their successes and challenges, offering advice when needed.
Private graveside services were held at Berlin Cemetery, where military honors were conducted.
