Janet Ann Carey, 76, of Springfield, IL, passed away on September 21, 2025. She was born on November 17, 1948, in Springfield, to Bernard A. and Marjorie (Bishop) Dressendorfer. Janet married the love of her life, Raymond Carey on April 21, 1990.

She is also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Karen Kay Conley, brothers, Henry E. and James M. Dressendorfer; and son, Marc E. Carey.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond; children, Michael L. (Lisa) Slater Jr. of Sherman, IL, William Scott Slater of Sherman, IL, and Brian P. Carey of Bloomington, IL; eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Janet worked for Pillsbury for 17 ½ years, Cargill for ten years, then transitioned to District 186. Janet loved working for Pillsbury and retired after 17 ½ years.

Janet loved travelling with her grandchildren. She also loved teaching ballroom dancing and playing pinochle. She was a member of Kings Daughters Organization.  Janet was a dedicated member of West Side Christian Church.

Visitation: 9:00 – 11:00 am on Friday, September 26, 2025, at West Side Christian Church.

Funeral Service: 11:00 am Friday, September 26, 2025, at West Side Christian Church with Cindy Lash officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
