Janet Sue Chrans, 84, of Virden, formerly of Springfield, passed away at 4:50 am, Monday, December 15, 2025, at Sunrise Manor in Virden. She was born December 14, 1941, in Springfield, the daughter of Jay W. and Elizabeth (Douglas) Beck. She married Jack L. Chrans September 14, 1968, and he preceded her in death October 13, 2020.

 She is survived by two brothers, Donald (Marcia) Beck of Edmonds, WA and Robert (Ree) Beck of Truth or Consequences, NM; three sisters-in-law, Alice Beck of Urbana, Diann (Chuck) Tobias of Springfield and Marlene Chrans of Rochester and many nieces and nephews.

 She was also preceded in death by her parents, brother Zane Beck and sister, Shirley Budberg Fisherkeller.

 As a lifelong native of Springfield, Janet attended Ridgely Grade School and Lanphier High School.

Janet retired from Memorial Medical Center where she worked as an admittance clerk.

 She enjoyed working crossword puzzles.

 Janet was a member of St. Joseph Church.

 Visitation: 11:30 am – 12:30 pm, Monday, December 29, 2025, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

 Funeral Service: 12:30 pm, Monday, December 29, 2025, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Rev. Michael Friedel officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.

 Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, St. Joseph Church or Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
