Jean Marie Rabe, 79, of Louisburg, MO, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025. Jean was born on September 27, 1945, in Des Moines, IA, the daughter of the late Francis P. and Edith Louise (Bennett) McGowan, and they preceded her in death.

Jean is survived by her sisters, Mary Frances Carroll of Petersburg and Carol Ann McGowan of New Berlin; brothers, Frank Edward McGowan and Michael Joseph McGowan, both of New Berlin; two nieces; and two nephews.

Jean received her nursing degree from St. John’s School of Nursing and retired as a registered nurse at CoxHealth Medical Center in Springfield, MO. She had also received her master’s degree in Studio Arts from Drury University in Springfield, MO. She resided in Missouri for over 40 years. She was a woman of faith, and she attended Sacred Heart Parish in Boliver, MO.

Jean loved creating ordinary things into art. Her favorite thing was to collect rocks and turn them into beautiful art. She also loved painting, especially with watercolors. In her earlier years, she was a dairy farmer and had a big heart for horses.

Visitation: 9:30 – 10:30 am Friday, January 17, 2025, at Staab Funeral Home - Springfield.

Funeral Mass: 11:00 am, Friday, January 17, 2025, at Sacred Heart with Rev. Brendan Gibson, S.J.C. officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to any charity benefiting children or animals.
