Jeanne Purves Sattler completed her lifelong travels on January 30th, 2026. She was born to Alfred and Eva Purves Sattler on June 6, 1930.
Jeanne was a proud Northender and lived in the house that her grandparents, William and Mary Purves purchased in 1921. Jeanne graduated from Enos Grade School and Lanphier High School Class of 1948.
Jeanne worked for Standard Mutual Insurance Company from June 1, 1948, until her retirement on June 1, 2000. At Standard Mutual Insurance, she was the executive secretary to Mark O. Roberts, Sr., President of the company.
After retiring, she continued her hobbies of world travels with friends and maintaining her lovely, historic home and yard. She especially loved tending to her mandevillas and hedges every summer as her health permitted. Jeanne also loved crocheting white dishcloths which her family and friends cherished.
She was the family historian and provided her great-nephews with an album of family history that they treasure. She traced her family back to Herne, Westphalen, Germany, Alsace – Lorraine, France and Scotland. She was always proud that her grandfather William Purves was a building contractor from Scotland who worked on the Orpheum Theater and the Abraham Lincoln Hotel in Springfield.
Jeanne loved to travel with friends to Russia, China, Cuba, England, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Liechtenstein, Italy, France, Hong Kong and the Riviera. She loved cruises and bus trips as well. She enjoyed life to the fullest.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Eva Purves Sattler, her brother, Charles Alfred and his wife Mary Ellen Wainwright Sattler, nephew Robert Scott and his wife Sharon Kendall Sattler.
Jeanne is survived by her nephew, Charles Steven Sattler, great-nephews, Blake Xan, Ryan Jeffrey, and Robert Max Sattler.
Jeanne was always grateful for the thoughtfulness and companionship of her friends, Laura Dimmick, Tracy and Mark Schmid, Linda Earp, Debbie and David Squires, Effie Barber, Barb Bolin, Johnnie Haycraft, Roger Boucher, and Bret and Lisa Todd. The family would like to thank her patient and kind caretakers. They did a fantastic job!
