Jeryn Marie Welch, 84, of Springfield, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Springfield Suites. She was born on April 13, 1942, in Springfield, the daughter of Henry and Wilma June (Wieland) Carver. She married Michael Frederick in 1964, and he preceded her in death in 1989. Later, she was briefly married to Fred Selby.

Jeryn is also preceded in death by her parents and brother, David Carver.

Survivors include her son, Mike Welch of Riverton; and two siblings, Don Carver and Cathy Powell, both of Springfield.

Jeryn will be remembered for her spirited red hair and her love of horses. She cherished her collection of southwestern jewelry, each piece telling a story close to her heart. She showed her love by cooking and baking for family and friends. Never one to sit still, she filled her days with purpose, whether she was tidying homes with care or, more happily, surrounded by the laughter of family. After many years of service, she retired from Illinois Bell as a 411 operator.

Visitation: 2:00 – 5:00 pm, Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service: 11:00 am, Monday, April 27, 2026, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield. A burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, ALS Association or Oak Hill Cemetery.
