Joan Bohles, 100 of Springfield, passed away at 7:23 am, Monday, January 5, 2026 at her home. She was born February 18, 1925 in Springfield, IL the daughter of Edris and Mabel F. (Wilcoxson) Mabie. She married Charles R. Bohles on April 12, 1947 and he preceded her in death on December 13, 2010.

 Also preceding her in death are her parents; five brothers, Charles, Reynold, Ed, Gomer, and Oliver Mabie and one sister, Mae Belle Joyce.

 Joan is survived by her daughter, Linda (Doug) Daniels of Springfield; two granddaughters, McKinzie Daniels and Megan (Evan) Schmidt-Daniels; one great grandson, Barrett Schmidt and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

 Joan was a resident of Springfield. She graduated from Feitshans and went on to Brown’s Business College. She retired from the State of Illinois Comptroller’s Office as the payroll supervisor.

 Joan loved playing the slot machines at the St. Louis casinos and buying lottery tickets. Her most treasured time was spending her time with her family. She will be dearly missed.

 Visitation: 11:00 am – 12:30 pm, Friday, January 16, 2026 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

 Funeral Service: 12:30 pm, Friday, January 16, 2026 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Cindy Lash officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.

 Memorial contributions may be made to the Matthew Project, serving the homeless children in Springfield and surrounding areas.
