Joanne Crumly 96, of Springfield, died at 3:39 am, Thursday, November 7, 2024, at St. John’s Hospital. She was born July 7, 1928 in Springfield, to John “Ray” and Mildred Anne Fernandes McCarthy. She married Charles W. Crumly and he preceded her in death on January 14, 1970.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Charles Crumly, one daughter, Judy Gaither; two brothers Jack and Kevin McCarthy and one grandson, Bobby House.
Survivors include three daughters, Cindy (Ed) House; Missy Crumly and Mindy Crumly all of Springfield; nine grandchildren Rev. Christopher House, Matthew House, Kayla Boston, Sarah Arnold, Michelle Green, Leigh Hayes, Shannon Miner, Mary Belford and Samantha Gaither; seventeen great grandchildren, Tanner Miner, Brett Miner, Oliver Miner, Hunter Hayes, Chase Hayes, Kashton Kallister, Seth Belford, Shelby Belford, Nathan Catlin, Griffin Waters, Kiya Waters, Peyton Campbell, Trey Boston, Pieper Boston, Copeland Arnold, Mylah Tucker and Myles Avinger.
Joanne was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish at Sacred Heart Church. She was a homemaker and previously worked for the Secretary of State.
She liked to knit, as well as dance and she loved music. She enjoyed church activities and was a Chicago Cubs, Notre Dame and Illinois sports fan.
Visitation: 10:30 am – 12:00 pm Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at Sacred Heart Church.
Funeral Mass: 12:00 pm, Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at Sacred Heart Church with her grandson, the Very Reverend Christopher House and Reverend James Isaacson officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
