John David Jagitsch, 93, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. He was born on June 9, 1933, in Springfield, the son of Robert F. and Dorothy Mae (Jones) Jagitsch.
On September 19, 1981, he married Judith Haupt. It was their second marriage where they created a blended family: John D., Jr., Mark and Matthew Jagitsch and Amy and Sara Wilkinson.
John's last 20 years of his career were with Aetna Casualty Insurance where he was a casualty claims adjuster.
For many years, John was very active in the First Springfield Seventh Day Adventist Church, teaching Sabbath School, serving as head elder, and preaching as needed.
He had three siblings, Robert, Richard and Virginia; nine grandchildren, Brandy, Steven, Nathan, Brandon, Kean, Annelise, Christian, Connor, Andres, and Pablo; and two great-grandchildren, Tiffani and Isabella.
Visitation: 10:00 - 11:00 am, Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Staab Funeral Home - Springfield.
Funeral Service: 11:00 am, Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Staab Funeral Home - Springfield. A burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Following the burial, the family invites you to a luncheon and continued fellowship at Springfield First Seventh-day Adventist Church located at 3300 West Jefferson Street, Springfield, IL 62707.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Memorial Home Hospice.
