Joy A. Dougherty, 84, of Springfield, IL, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025. Joy was born April 18, 1940, the daughter of James and Bertha (Elmore) Humphrey in Barren County, KY. She married Olan Dougherty on June 15, 1958, and he preceded her in death on January 21, 2005.

Joy is survived by her daughter, Beth Dougherty of Springfield; six grandchildren: Rebecca Seward, Dawn Seward, Tara (Matt) Yon, Theresa (Terry) Seward Allen, Alan Lee (Susan) Dougherty, and Diana (Willie) Moss; 13 great-grandchildren: Jason (Caylin) Barclay, Elizabeth Cruse, Cody Mitchell, Myla Seward, Matthew Yon Jr., Levi Yon, Logan Yon, Lorryn Allen, Austin Allen, Zander Dougherty, Gabby Moss, Abby Moss and Ayerana Moss; one great great granddaughter, Fiona Barclay and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceding her in death are her parents; son, Alan S. Dougherty; sisters: Maxine Prior, Betty Stull, Martha Wilson, and Donna Cook; and brother, Jimmie Humphrey.

Joy was a dedicated member of Eastview Baptist Church. She worked for Franklin Life Insurance Company for more than 25 years and then at Horace Mann for 10 years before retiring.

In retirement, Joy was able to do many of the hobbies she loved including gardening, bunco, visiting with friends and family; and greeting everyone at church.

Visitation: 9-11 am, Friday, January 24, 2025, at Eastview Baptist Church.

Funeral Service: 11:00 am, Friday, January 24, 2025, at Eastview Baptist Church with Pastor Bennie Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Eastview Baptist Church.
