Judith J. “Judy” Shirilla, 74, of Springfield passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Regency Care in Springfield. She was born on February 17, 1952, in Youngstown, OH, the daughter of Dan and Dorothy L. Adams Shirilla.
Judy is survived by one brother, Gerald “Jerry” (Pauline) Shirilla of Hubbard, OH; one niece, Jennifer Shirilla; and one nephew, Jeffrey Shirilla. She is also survived by several close friends, Fred Wrightam and Sheri Mize-Wrightam of Rochester and their children, Jennifer (Philip) Musterman of Lake St. Louis, MO, Eli Wrightam of Normal, IL, and Carolyn (Spencer Poulos) Wrightam of Longmont, CO; Richard (Kathleen) McFate of Buffalo Grove, IL and their son CJ McFate of Minneapolis, MN. Numerous friends from Springfield and MacMurray College also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Judy graduated from Campbell Memorial High School in Campbell, OH where she was class valedictorian and received her bachelor’s degree from MacMurray College in Jacksonville.
Judy worked for the state of Illinois in the comptroller’s office. She retired as a systems administrator with the Illinois Dept. of Revenue.
She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, sewing, and needlepointing. She was fully dedicated to her dogs throughout her life.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date with burial in Ohio.
