Judy Huston passed away on Friday, May 8, 2026, at her home. She was born July 15, 1942, in Beaverville, IL, the daughter of Aaron and Darlene Lambert Dube. She was raised by her mother and stepfather, Frank Laney. She married Dale Huston on March 15, 1963, at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX. He preceded her in death on January 20, 2025.
Also preceding her in death were her parents and one brother, John Dube.
Judy graduated from St. Anne High School and attended Mercy School of Nursing in Urbana, Illinois. She was employed by Alice Campbell Staffing as Vice President in charge of Marketing and Advertising in 1986 and retired in 2006 after twenty years of service.
She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where she volunteered on various church committees, as well as a member of the Ilini Country Club and Illinois Women in Leadership. She served as President of Butler PTA, President of Springfield Women in Management, Chairman of the Springfield Old Capital Art Fair, Chairman of the Springfield Arts Council’s Downtown Entertainment on the Square, and Chairman of the Springfield Chamber’s John George Nicolay Secretarial Seminar. She also served on the boards of Springfield Newcomers Club, Kings Daughters, Friends of Memorial Medical Center, Springfield JayShes, PEO, Junior League of Springfield, Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce and American Staffing Association.
She was awarded an Outstanding Leadership and Dedication Award in 1989 by the Greater Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce. The 2000 Springfield Women of Achievement Corporate Award and the 2000 National Charlotte Danstrom Corporate Award.
Judy loved to read, often reading 2 to 3 books a week. Her husband joked that he became a reader “by necessity” and both her children became lifelong readers as well.
She is survived by her son, Chad (wife, Kara) Huston of Springfield; daughter, Dana (partner, Les) Huston of Springfield; three grandchildren, Samuel, Benjamin and Callista Huston of Springfield; sister, Maureen Langellier of Bloomington and brother, Ray Laney (wife, Cheryl) of St. Anne, IL.
Graveside Service: 1:00 pm, Monday, May 18, 2026, at Drummer Township Cemetery in Gibson City, IL.
