Julia Anna Whiteleather, 96, of Springfield, passed away at 8:05 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2026, at Taylorville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Julia was born on February 9, 1930, in Springfield, Illinois, the daughter of Henry Edward and Louisa (Sommer) Midden. She married Norman Whiteleather on September 26, 1958. He preceded her in death on October 26, 1977.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Henry Edward Midden, Jr., Louis John Midden, Robert Francis Midden, and Charles Joseph Midden; and two sisters, Louisa Marie Timmons and Mary Margaret Midden.
Julia is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
A woman of strong faith, Julia was a member of the Roman Catholic Church.
Julia graduated from Pleasant Plains Township High School in 1948 and from St. John’s School of Nursing Education in 1951. Her distinguished career as a registered nurse spanned more than 40 years and took her throughout the United States, including Illinois, Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, Wyoming, Utah, and Missouri. Through her nursing profession, she touched the lives of countless patients and families with compassion and dedication.
Outside of her career, Julia enjoyed many creative pursuits. She loved baking, painting, and a wide variety of arts and crafts. She was especially fond of Dachshunds, which brought her much joy throughout her life. Julia will be remembered for her caring nature, artistic spirit, devotion to her family, and lifelong commitment to helping others.
Graveside Service: 10 am, Friday, June 26, 2026 at Calvary Cemetery with Reverend Troy Niemberg officiating.
