Karin Patrice O’Brien, age 68, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois on January 30, 2025. She was born in Springfield on January 29, 1957, to parents Robert J. and Gretchen (Meyer) O’Brien, deceased.

She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy, Springfield College in Illinois, and Illinois State University. She was employed in the healthcare field and enjoyed caring for others, especially the elderly. She loved playing Bingo and cards.

She is survived by her brothers James P. (Angela Tin) O’Brien, William (Barbara) O’Brien, her sisters Mary T. O’Brien and Jacqueline (Thomas Apke) O'Brien, nephews Brendan (Vidya Fleetwood) O’Brien, Robert (Meghan) O’Brien, and Eric O’Brien, two great nieces June and Margot, her uncle John F. (Jack) O’Brien and many cousins.

Cremation services provided by Staab Funeral Home.

Visitation on Friday, February 7, at Staab Funeral Home in Springfield from 4:30-7:00 PM followed by a funeral service.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to APL of Springfield Illinois or The Sue Merk Memorial Scholarship in Pharmacy c/o the WSU Foundation at: WSU College of Pharmacy, ATTN; Sue Merk Memorial Scholarship, 412 E. Spokane Falls Blvd. Spokane, Washington 99202. (her dear cousin)
