With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Kathleen Davlin, 75, on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. She was born on April 10, 1949, in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Robert E. and Norene O’Brien Davlin who preceded her in death.
Her biggest life success was raising her three loving children: Tyler (Sarah) Schmidt of Lincoln, IL, Heidi (Scott) Watson of Columbia, MO, and Abigail Schmidt of Virginia. Just like being a mom, she loved being a GramMo. Anyone who knew her would often hear her boast about the love she has for her four grandchildren: Tayler, Cohan, Ireland, and Rylan. Some of her best stories involved her growing up with her six loving siblings. She is survived by her three brothers, Michael (Carol) Davlin of Colorado, Patrick (Rae Marie) Davlin of Springfield, and Kevin Davlin of Colorado and her two sisters, Carol Ann (Jerry) Walton of Florida and Maureen Davlin of Springfield. She never missed a chance to find a green carnation to honor her late brother, Timothy Davlin.
She has one surviving uncle, Jack O’Brien of Springfield and many nieces, nephews, and cousins that filled her life as Aunt Kakie Dear with love.
Kathleen began her career with the IRS retiring early and then began working at the State of Illinois where she again worked until retirement.
Upon retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family, lifelong childhood friends, traveling and above all gardening and playing cards. A cherished mother, a phenomenal GramMo, a devoted sister, a friend to many and someone who always thought of others first. She is a presence that will be deeply missed. She touched the hearts of many and left a lasting impact on everyone she met. Her legacy of love and compassion as well as her deep-rooted faith in God will live on in the hearts of all that knew her.
