Kay M. Compardo, 84, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at her home. She was born September 21, 1941, in Springfield, the daughter of Luther and Lorena (Sutherd) Maddox.

 Survivors include her daughter, Tracy Jo (Ken) Scarlette of Springfield; two granddaughters, Addison and Sterling Scarlette; and several nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Wanda Kluckman; and two brothers, William and Thomas Maddox.

 Kay was a Secretary to the Vice President at the Illinois League of Financial Institutions. She had been a resident of Springfield since 1993, and prior to that she had lived in Loami and Ashland.

 Kay enjoyed watching God’s creations each year, whether the sights of new growth in her flower garden each spring or the sound of hummingbirds buzzing through the air every summer. She spent countless afternoons on the porch in awe of his wonders.

 She cherished her many pets throughout her lifetime, offering a loving home for many including Dutchess, Puddles, Skooder, and many more.

 Her love and affection for her grandchildren were evident in endless abound as she was truly their biggest cheerleader. Whether in the stands at a basketball ball game, in the bleachers watching track meets or in the audience enjoying school events, Kay cherished every moment.

 Per Kay’s wishes no services will be held and cremation will be accorded by Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

 Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
