Lorraine M. Downey, 78, of Sherman, formerly of Springfield, passed away at 9:48 am, Friday, June 5, 2026, surrounded by family and friends. She was born March 15, 1948, in Springfield, the daughter of Kenneth and Mary Ilene (Beja) LeMasters. She married Robert William Downey on February 10, 1968, and he preceded her in death on December 20, 2007.

 Also preceding her in death were her parents and three brothers, Ron, Gary and Mark LeMasters.

 Lorraine is survived by her two sons, Michael Downey of Virginia and Bobby (Sarah) Downey of Sherman and daughter, Sarah Downey of Williamsville; five grandchildren, Connor, Collin, Robert, Maggie and Sophia Downey; sister, Sharon (Randy) Sallee of Ohio and brother, Bobby LeMasters of Sherman.

 Lorraine was a faithful Catholic member of St. Aloysius and a dedicated member of their Ecumenical Street Ministry. She loved to bake and treasured the time she spent at the ballfield with her grandchildren. She enjoyed planting flowers, sitting on her porch swing and breathing in the fresh air.

 Memorial gathering: 10:00 – 10:30 am, Friday, June 19, 2026, at St. John Vianney Church in Sherman, IL.

 Memorial Mass: 10:30 am, Friday, June 19, 2026, at St. John Vianney Church in Sherman, IL with Reverend Frederick Chima Mbiere officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

 Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Aloysius Ecumenical Street Ministry, 2125 N. 21st Street Springfield, IL 62702.
