Marietta Eilene Buro, 100 of Lincoln, formerly of Springfield, passed away at 11:50 am, Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Springfield Memorial Hospital. She was born August 10, 1924, in New Burnside, IL, the daughter of Robert and Dorothy (Simmons) Grant. She married Arthur Buro August 24, 1947, and he preceded her in death December 18, 2014.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; brother Virgil Grant; four sisters, Rajean Ragland, Eunice Davis, Elladee Bradley and an infant sister.

She is survived by daughter, Velda Ann (Dean) Baker of Lincoln, IL; a son, Earl Wayne (Marla) Buro of Marietta, GA; two grandchildren, Grant (Rebecca) Buro and Dyanna (Justin) Motes; three great grandchildren, Jackson and Colton Buro and Mackinsey Motes; four step grandchildren, Deanna (Gabriel) Peterson, Eric (Sara) Baker, Ryan (Katana) Baker and Monica (Robert) Smith; eight step great grandchildren, Elise Howell, Andrew Baker, Jacob Baker, Megan Baker, Isaac Baker, Emma Baker, Mara Baker and Aidan Baker.

She had a strong faith in God which she passed onto her children. She was a member of South Side Christian Church, PTA, Women’s Federation Organization, Business Christian Women’s Association. She was a volunteer at Lincoln Hospital and was a member of the Lincoln Hospital Auxillary.

Private services will be held.

Memorial contributions may be made to South Side Christian Church.
