Marilyn Bacon, 88, of Sherman, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 27, 1937, in Port Huron, MI, the daughter of Carl and Grace (McIntyre) Schumann. She married E. Kent Bacon on June 14, 1958, and he preceded her in death on May 28, 2022.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and brother, Carl Schumann.
Marilyn is survived by her two daughters, Carla (Mike) Smith of Bartlett and Barbara (Scot) Burneson of Williamsville; five grandchildren, Jocelyn (David) Gillaspie, Hayden Smith, Erin (Angraj) Swami, Justin Burneson, and Julie (Michael) Delaney; three great-grandchildren, Grace Gillaspie and Auden and Harlow Delaney; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A faithful and longtime member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Marilyn was deeply committed to her church family throughout her life. She retired after many years as a legal secretary. Marilyn’s talents extended well beyond her career. She loved to cook and was a talented seamstress, creating pieces with care and skill that reflected her love for family.
Memorial Gathering: 10:00 – 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
Memorial Service: 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, with Reverend James Stuenkel officiating.
