Mary L. Morris, 87, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2024, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital. She was born on June 28, 1937, in Paxton, IL, to Charles and Mary Rambo Chad. She married Gary Morris on August 26, 1989, and he survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Roseanne “Rosie” Smith of Springfield and Pamela LeMasters of Paducah, KY; one son, Dale (Andrea) Smith of Riverton; five step-sons, Gregory Morris of Jacksonville, Rich Morris of Jacksonville, Mark Morris of Jacksonville, Scott Morris of Springfield and Brian Morris of Jacksonville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Quickle of Sheffield, IL and two brothers, Charles (Sandy) Chad of Neponset, IL and Eugene (Veronica) Chad of Geneseo, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Roxanne Rule; and brother in law, Readus Quickle.

She was a graduate of Bradford High School in Bradford, IL. Throughout her working career, she held several jobs in the catering profession. Mary was a member of Bissell United Methodist Church. She enjoyed tending her flower garden; crafting, especially floral arrangements and quilting; and RV camping across the country.

Cremation will be arranged by Staab Funeral Home – Springfield and inurnment will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Bissell United Methodist Church and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
