Maurine Kay Miller, 79, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at her residence. She was born on July 25, 1946, in Springfield, the daughter of Woodrow C. and Lucille (Phillips) Russell.
She is survived by two daughters, Chevonne (Craig) Foster of Lake Wales, FL and Jennifer Turley (Companion, Rob Sisk) of Springfield, IL, two grandchildren, Trever Turley and D.J. Turley; one sister, Susan Graves of Battle Ground, WA; two brothers, Woodrow Russell, Jr. of Grants Pass, OR, and Randall Russell of Battle Ground, WA; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a half-brother, William Russell; a son-in-law, Brad Dodge; and her former husband, Edward G. Miller.
Maurine worked for the State of Illinois in the Dept. of Revenue as a tax specialist, retiring after 32 years.
Kay loved living life, and she did so each day with a grateful, kind, and loving heart. She enjoyed traveling and sports, especially Chicago Bears football. She also enjoyed watching her grandchildren play baseball and basketball when they were growing up. She had a giving soul, was selfless, and did so much for her family and friends. She loved animals, her many beloved cats over the years, and all of her “grand dogs”.
Recently, Kay began taking cruises with her sister, Susan, and she loved seeing the world this way with her best friend. Her faith in God was strong, and her love of Jesus was compelling and heartfelt. You could see it in her smile, and her relationship carried his love and grace to so many others.
She was a former member of Risen Savior Lutheran Church in Buffalo, IL, and was currently attending West Side Christian Church in Springfield.
There will be no visitation, but friends and family are invited to a graveside service, which will be held on Friday, November 28, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Memorial Park in Springfield with the Rev. James Stuenkel officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League in Springfield.
