Michael Anthony Costa, 72, of Springfield, IL, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. He was born on January 17, 1953, in Springfield, IL, to Eugene C. and Bernadette (Quinn) Costa.
He is survived by his three siblings, Martha Elafros of Tucson, AZ, David (Sharon) Costa of Springfield, IL and Edward Costa of Decatur, IL; one aunt, Sallie Ineich of Louisianna; one uncle, Jim (Ginger) Quinn of Pueblo, CO, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Elizabeth Kapnick and brother, Eugene E. Costa.
Michael graduated from Griffin High School. He retired from Precision Products. Mike was a lifelong member of Blessed Sacrament Church where he ushered weekly. In his free time, Michael enjoyed volunteering at SHG’s football and basketball games. He was also a weekly volunteer for Bingo at Caritas Hall. Michael enjoyed working out at YMCA and was a lifelong member of Knights of Columbus #364 where he received the Rank of 4th Degree Knight.
Michael is remembered as a kind, thoughtful, and generous man who consistently showed up for others. He always said, “I’m not one to sit at home”-whether lending a helpful hand, offering a ride for dinner, or taking tickets at a game. He was a beloved uncle, valuable volunteer, and endearing friend.
Mike was loved dearly and will be missed deeply by so many.
Visitation: 9:30 am – 11:00 am, Friday, August 8, 2025, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
Funeral Mass: 11:00 am, Friday, August 8, 2025, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Reverend Jeffrey Grant officiating.
Graveside Service: 10:00 am, Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Calvary Cemetery in Springfield.
