Michael P. Jones, 71 of Springfield, IL, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on October 2, 2024, at Springfield Memorial Hospital. Michael was born in Aurora, IL on January 12, 1953, to Walter F. Jones and Adeline M. Meyer Jones, who preceded him in death. He married the love of his life, Mary Jo Broderick on April 7, 1973, in Alton, IL and she passed away on January 17, 2016.

Michael is survived by his sons, Andrew (Nikole) Jones of Hinckley, IL and Matthew Jones of Springfield, IL; five siblings, David (Sharon) Jones of Ooltewah, TN, Daniel (Vicki, deceased) Jones of Murrells Inlet, SC, Laurel (James, deceased) Hankes of Oswego, IL, Anthony (Christine) Jones of Mt. Prospect, IL, and Christopher (Ruth) Jones of Warsaw, MO; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; his beloved pup, Olive Oil; and three grandpups: Chloe, Barley, and Ziggy.

Michael was a man of faith, who attended Christ the King Church. Michael was a member of the Free Masons in Springfield and a member of St. Paul’s Lodge No. 500. He also enjoyed being a member of the Shriners Jazz Band. Michael was an avid harmonica and accordion player. He loved exploring and trying all sorts of instruments. One of his favorite pastimes was riding on his motorcycle with Mary Jo.

After moving to Springfield, Michael and Mary Jo founded Jones Watch Repair on April 1, 1976, which later became Jones Jewelers in Springfield. He retired after many years of service on December 31, 2021.

Memorial Gathering: 2:00 - 5:00 pm Friday, October 11, 2024 at Staab Funeral Home - Springfield.

Memorial Service: 5:00 pm, Friday, October 11, 2024 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

A private burial will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Godfrey, IL.
