Nancy A. McCann – Stone, 78, of Springfield, IL, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Springfield Memorial Hospital. She was born on November 9, 1946, in Springfield, the daughter of Reed A. and Evelyn B. (Cox) Eynon. She married Arthur L. Stone and had a loving relationship for over 40 years before he passed away on July 27, 2015.
She is also preceded in death by her parents; brother, David; brother-in-law, Don; daughter-in-law, Cindy; and son-in-law, Frank.
Nancy is survived by two daughters, Pamela and Kimberly; three sons, Reed (Peris), Arthur, Jr. (Natali), and David Scott; thirteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Linda and Marty (Ed); several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her beloved dachshund, Chester.
She was a 1964 graduate of Lanphier High School; and continued her education later in life and received her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in Sociology from Sangamon State University.
Nancy worked for many years at the IL Office of the Attorney General as a senior fraud advocate and also worked many years at the SIU-School of Medicine, working in the curriculum department.
Her faith was important to her and she enjoyed worshipping at various churches, most recently at Cherry Hills Church. She also loved to give her time and money and would give to many local organizations. She was a huge animal lover and rescued many dogs through the years.
She truly enjoyed music and would travel to any Neil Diamond concert within a 300-mile radius! She also loved listening to Tom Petty and Rod Stewart. She loved her family deeply and will be dearly missed.
Visitation: 4:00 – 6:00 pm, Friday, May 2, 2025, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Funeral Service: 6:00 pm, Friday, May 2, 2025, at Staab Funeral Home Springfield with Pastor Brian Schwarberg officiating. Cremation will take place following services and inurnment will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League.
