Norma Jean “Jeanie” Hunter, 79, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, surrounded by family. She was born on May 26, 1945, in St. Louis, MO, daughter of Mary Veneta Boyer and George Miller. She married the love of her life, Leslie L. Hunter on June 9, 1979, and he survives.

She is also survived by her daughters, Christine (Joe) Begue of Springfield and Margaret (Mark) Arsenault of Springfield; stepdaughters, Tracey Reynolds of Rolla, MO, Rhonda Dehner of Springfield, Tina Murray of Springfield; stepson, Bubba (Marcie) Hunter of Auburn; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; twelve siblings; daughters, Mary Ann Hunter, Jeanette Ellenburg, and Virginia Taylor.

Norma wired load banks for Simplex and then retired from the cafeteria of Springfield School District #186. She was a member of the Blue Ridge Club, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, and Eagles Auxiliary.

The family will host a visitation from 10 am, Tuesday, April 22, 2025, until time of services at 11 am at Cherry Hills Church, 2125 Woodside Road, Springfield 62711 with Pastor Brian Schwarberg officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League.
