Phillip A. Daykin 89, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born July 3, 1936, in Springfield, to Deane and Buraldine Crumly Daykin. He married Mary Katherine Windmiller on June 28, 1959, and she survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Carrie Daykin of Springfield and Sue (Curt) Volkmann of Lake Geneva, WI; two sons, David (Jodi) Daykin of Sherman and Steve (Jessica) Daykin of Plano, TX; eleven grandchildren, Abigail Volkmann, Anna (Volkmann) Whitney (Grant Whitney), Alec Daykin, Daniel (Holly) Daykin, Quinn Daykin, Grant Daykin, Alyson Daykin, Trent Daykin and Kate Daykin, Gianna and Lyla Calles; one great-granddaughter, Murphy May Daykin; one nephew, Chip Horsley and several cousins.

Phillip was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Carole Daykin Horsley and niece Christine.

He was a member of Laurel United Methodist Church, Masonic St. Pauls Lodge 500; Springfield Consistory; ANSAR Shrine and was a volunteer for the Rail Classic Golf Tournament.

Phillip retired from Ameren CIPS in October of 1998 after twenty-nine years of service as a Gas Training Associate.

Visitation: 9:30 am – 11:00 am, Monday, December 22, 2025, at Laurel United Methodist Church.

Funeral Service: 11:00 am, Monday, December 22, 2025, at Laurel United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Kent Lolling officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Laurel United Methodist Church, Shriners Children’s Hospital or the Central Illinois Food Bank.
