Rick Jordon, 80, of Chatham, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024, surrounded by his family. Rick was born on September 10, 1944, son of William E. Jordon and Imogene Freeman. He married the love of his life, Francine M. Leach, on April 24, 1965, and she survives.
Rick is also survived by his daughter, Marla (Matt) Jordon Perkins of Wisconsin; son, Chad Jordon of Chatham; grandchildren, Payton (Hunter) Jordon Heintzelman and Ethan Brill; sister-in-law, Sandra (John) Estill; brothers-in-law, Richard Leach and Leonard (Missy) Leach, and several cousins.
Preceding him in death are his parents and brother-in-law, Dennis Leach.
Rick attended Glenwood High School and then was drafted to the U.S. Army in November of 1966 for the Vietnam War. Rick was a proud firefighter with the Springfield Fire Department for 25 years before retirement.
Upon retirement, he enjoyed many different things including travelling across the country, especially on motorcycle. He also loved being on the beach or at any destination that had water. Rick enjoyed watching drag racing with his son and son-in-law as well. He deeply loved the family he made with Francine, and could not of been more proud of his children and grandchildren.
Cremation will be arranged by Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with no services planned per Rick’s wishes.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VFW – Chatham or charity of the donor’s choice.
