Robert “Bob” Lloyd High, Jr., 79 of Springfield, passed away at 6:30 am, Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born November 30, 1946, in Clinton, the son of Robert L. and Marjorie (Henson) High, Sr. He married Sarah Lafferty on February 18, 1967.

 He is survived by his wife, Sarah High of Springfield; three children, Kelly (Ed) Cramer, Kevin (Janean) High, both of Springfield and Kyle High of Chatham; nine grandchildren, Stephanie (Carter) Wilkey, Collin Cramer, Peyton High, Paige High, Parker High, Keltin High, Karsynn High, Konlen High and Knixon High.

 He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Jeffrey Robert High.

 Bob was a United States Army veteran serving during the Vietnam Era. He was an avid golfer and also coached golf. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s events.

 He was a teacher for Springfield School District #186; including Southeast High School for 10 years, Grant and Washington Middle School for 2 years and finished his career at Lanphier High School in 2008.

 Visitation: 5 – 7 pm, Thursday, March 26, 2026, at West Side Christian Church.

 Funeral Service: 10:30 am, Friday, March 27, 2026, at West Side Christian Church with Matt Cleveland officiating.

 Graveside Service: 2 pm, Friday, March 27, 2026 at Memorial Park/Woodlawn Cemetery in Clinton, IL with Gary Winkelman officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Army, Department of Defense.

 Memorial contributions may be made to West Side Christian Church or Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation.
