Ronald J. Ward 75, of Chatham, passed away at 9:41 pm, Saturday, January 31, 2026, at his home. He was born June 22, 1950, in Jacksonville, to the late Russell and Betty (Ewing) Ward. He married Katherine “Kitty” M. Moran Koeppel on August 1, 1992, and she survives.
Also surviving are one son, Daniel Koeppel of Fuquay-Varina, NC; two daughters, Elizabeth Koeppel of Chatham and Katherine Koeppel of Austin, TX; two grandchildren, Parker Loveless and Hannah Loveless and his dog, Luna.
He was a United States Navy Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War.
He retired from the State of Illinois in the Human Services Department as a security therapy aide after twenty years of service.
He enjoyed antique guns, daggers, cars and ham radio. His greatest enjoyment came from taking care of his family.
Graveside Service: 12 pm, Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League.
