Ronald “Ron” Lee Callarman, 90 of Cantrall, IL died on Monday, August 31, 2026, at Centennial Pointe Memory Care in Springfield, IL. He was born on October 2, 1935, in Springfield, the son of Wayne D. and Mildred McClanahan Callarman. He married Jeris Ann Gordley on May 18, 1985.
Ron was a 1953 graduate of Lanphier High School, upon graduation he immediately served in the United States Air Force. Later in life he became a graduate of Western Illinois University. He worked many places during his life, the most memorable Franklin Life Insurance Company and his time at the Illinois National Guard in Officer Personnel. Ron was also a carpenter and built many homes in the area. He enjoyed golfing with friends at local golf courses and league bowling with co-workers. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Later in life he could be found Sunday mornings at West Side Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, a brother-in-law and his oldest daughter, Cydne LaBonte.
Ron is survived by his wife, Jeris; four children, Steve (wife, Carol) Callarman, Jeff Callarman, Beth (husband, John) Lang and Chris Callarman; five grandchildren; one of his favorite titles was being “Big PaPa” to his two great-granddaughters. He is also survived by one brother, Terry (wife, Ilene) Callarman; a brother-in-law, Jeff (wife, Leslie) Gordley; two sisters-in-law, June Callarman and Lisa Gordley; one son-in-law, Robert LaBonte as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Transitions Hospice Team for all their love, care and support during Ron’s time of need.
A family hosted Memorial Gathering will take place from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm Friday, September 11, 2026, at West Side Christian Church – Hub Entrance.
A Memorial Service will follow at 12:00 pm, with Matt Cleveland officiating.
Graveside Service: 12:00 pm, Monday, September 14, 2026, at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Cindy Lash officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Air Force.
Memorial contributions may be made to West Side Christian Church Camp Scholarship Fund.
