Ronald Lee Helton, 75, of Chatham, IL, passed away on June 19, 2025. Ronald was born on September 11, 1949, in Springfield, IL to George W. and LaVerna Mae (Knight) Helton. He married the love of his life, Rebecca S. Wright, on October 5, 1973, and she survives.
Also surviving are his brother, James (Beth Paris) Helton of Farmersville, IL; niece, Crystal Strohkirch; and nephews, Eric Helton and Clint Helton.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Larry Helton, Michael Helton, and Gary Helton.
Ron graduated from Virden High School in 1967 and joined the Air National Guard in 1968. He worked in the Military Affairs Department for the State of Illinois since 2003.
He was a longtime member of Southern View Chapel. Ron loved classic cars, most specifically the 1957 Chevy Bel Air, the 1965 Chevelle SS, the 2011 Camaro RS SS, and is currently cruising around in a 1970 Chevelle in Heaven!
Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with the Funeral Service at 11:00 am, Monday, June 23, 2025, at Southern View Chapel with Pastor Gary Gilley officiating.
A private graveside service will take place at a later date at Chatham Memorial Cemetery.
